Rules: Recipes must be original and specify the use of the blackberry; no restriction on what type of recipe, as long as it includes blackberries. Enter as many recipes as you like. Separate entries must be a typewritten or hand printed legible recipe with the format listing ingredients in order of use, with amount/quantity. Include instruction that have a step-by-step process for making your selected dish and a color photo of the finished product.
Don’t forget the contestant’s name, address/email and phone number (day/evening) with each submission. No age restriction, but minors competing must have written permission from their parent/guardian accepting the terms of competition.
Deadline: Recipe must be received to the CBDA office by Friday, Aug. 10, 2018. Email the recipe to email@example.com. You can also mail your recipe to the CBDA, Attn: Berry Recipe Contest, 320 Central Ave., Ste. 410, Coos Bay OR 97420.
All recipes entries become the property of the Coos Bay Downtown Association, a non-pro¬fit 501c(6). All participants consent to the commercial use of their name, photo(s), and recipe for advertising and publicity/promotional purposes without further compensation. CBDA will publish recipes, with credit, for inclusion in a souvenir “It’s All Berry Good” Recipe Cookbook.
Judging: Best taste/flavor, texture, preparation ease, presentation, and creative use of blackberries. A maximum of 20 Semi-Finalists will be selected. Each must present their finished recipe for judging at noon Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018 at NW Natural office (1625 N 7th St., Coos Bay OR). Semi-finalists will need to provide a plated serving for the judges and a full dish to view.
On that day the top 3 finalists will be asked to present their ¬finished dish along with a quick oral presentation of the recipe at 1 p.m. Sunday Aug. 26, 2018 at the Blackberry Arts Festival, where the champion will be announced.
Prizes: Top 5 recipe submissions will receive a copy of the Cookbook; additionally, top 3 ¬finalists receive Blackberry Arts “It’s All Berry Good” 2018 chef apron. The Champion will receive “It’s All Berry Good” bragging rights and $100 visa gift card courtesy of NW Natural, cookbooks and apron.
